A Collab post is one post that lives on more than one profile. It has shared likes, comments and views, and every name appears in the header.
How many collaborators?
- In the app: You plus up to 5 collaborators, so 6 accounts in total. Third-party guides cite this from Instagram's help centre; we couldn't load that page directly.
- Through schedulers and the API: up to 3 collaborators (Meta developer docs). Collaborators aren't supported on Stories through the API.
How to invite
- New post: Tap Tag people, then Invite collaborator. Don't use a regular tag; a tag doesn't put the post on their grid.
- Already posted: Open the ••• menu → Edit → Tag people, then invite.
- Accepting: The other person gets a notification and taps Review, then Accept.
How it shows
- All the names appear in the post header.
- The post lands on every collaborator's grid and in all their followers' feeds.
- Likes, comments and shares are combined into one count.
- Collaborators can see the post's insights from their own professional dashboard.
- A collaborator can remove themselves at any time. The post stays on the original creator's profile.
Works for: brand partnerships (pair it with the Paid partnership label), creator duets, event recaps, and venue + DJ + photographer posts.
